The Health Visitors will give advice on health care for babies and small children, expectant mothers, for the elderly and people with disabilities. The Midwife monitors health care during pregnancy and visits mother and baby for the first few days following delivery. The midwife runs antenatal clinics at The Children's Centres throughout Chester.
The Countess of Chester Hospital offers safe, high-quality maternity care to meet your needs. It has a midwife-led Birthing Suite and its Labour Suite has an assessment area, eight multi-purpose delivery rooms (one with a birthing pool) and a theatre. Midwife support is also available for homebirths. The hospital also has a well-established Obstetric Day Unit, Fetal Medicine Department, Medical Disorders Clinic and High Risk Clinic, while the Post-natal ward has a Transitional Care Unit where babies who require extra support can be cared for at their mother’s bedside. You will be allocated a named midwife who will be your lead caregiver throughout pregnancy.

Perinatal Pelvic Health Service (PPHS)
Karris Reeves is a perinatal pelvic health physiotherapist based at the Countess of Chester Hospital under the new Perinatal Pelvic Health Service (PPHS).
This is a new service brought in as part of the NHS' push to improve access for ladies in the perinatal period to appropriate care.
There is currently a Postnatal Education and Exercise class at Ellesmere Port Sport Village on Tuesday afternoons. This class is open to anyone who has had their baby at COCH and you can self-refer into this service. To book onto this service, please call 01244 365234.
